Posted September 3, 2018. While browsing YZ 125 parts on Amazon I came across Boyesen Power Reeds for $12 (Prime deliver no less!). For that price I had to give them a try! The package claimed increased low end throttle response and more top end power. I am happy to report a VERY noticeable increase in throttle response in the low to mid ranges.

Boyesen wins this. Oil/jetting. Pre-mix, and jetting is key to have a strong 125! I use 32:1 Maxima SuperM because 32:1 gives it enough oil to run at high Rpms on my bike. I tried 40:1 and it seems ok but more oil = more life so go with that. The first thing 05-10 Yz 125 riders should do to their jetting is get a 420 main.

I'm running the Pro-Series reeds on stock block on my YZ125 also. Works well. On a related note, I did try the V-Force and it leaked pretty bad. It uses gaskets instead of the raised rubber lip the stock reed block has. If you run the V-Force, be sure to seal it up well with Moto-Seal, Ultra-Grey, or some other gas-resistant sealer. |
